Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Playdate web application (the “Service”) operated by Playdate (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Playdate is a platform that helps parents coordinate playdates for their children. The Service allows you to publish availability, connect with other parents, book playdates, and sync confirmed playdates to your calendar.

Playdate facilitates introductions and scheduling between parents. We are not responsible for the conduct of any parent, child, or other individual during a playdate. Parents are solely responsible for supervising their children and ensuring their safety.

2. Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. You agree to provide accurate and complete information and keep it updated.

You may not create accounts for anyone other than yourself, share your credentials, or use another person's account.

3. Children's Information

By adding a child's profile, you represent that you are the child's parent or legal guardian (or an authorized co-parent). You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, including allergy, medical, and dietary information.

Important: Allergy and medical information is shared with connected parents for safety purposes. Please ensure this information is accurate and up to date. Playdate is not liable for any harm resulting from inaccurate or incomplete health information.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
Share another user's personal information outside the Service without their consent
Create fake profiles or misrepresent your identity
Attempt to access another user's account
Use automated tools to scrape or collect data from the Service
Interfere with or disrupt the Service's operation

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Invite-Only Network

Playdate uses an invite-only network model. You can only connect with parents by sharing or accepting invite links. You are responsible for only inviting parents you know and trust. We do not perform background checks or identity verification on users.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

Free plan: Includes 1 child profile with full access to scheduling, booking, browsing, and calendar sync features.

Pro plan ($4.99/month): Includes up to 10 child profiles and additional features.

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By subscribing, you authorize recurring monthly charges until you cancel. You can cancel at any time through the Billing page or Stripe's customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds: We offer a full refund within 14 days of your first subscription payment if you are not satisfied. After 14 days, no refunds are provided for partial billing periods. Contact us to request a refund.

7. Content and Data

You retain ownership of all information you submit to the Service (profile data, notes, booking details). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely to operate the Service.

You may export or delete your data at any time by contacting us.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Playdate does not verify the identity, background, or suitability of any user. You use the Service at your own risk and are solely responsible for evaluating the trustworthiness of other parents you connect with.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Playdate shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to:

Any injury or harm occurring during a playdate
Inaccurate allergy, medical, or dietary information provided by another user
Loss of data or unauthorized access to your account
Service interruptions or errors

Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Playdate harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service. Your continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.
